My yoga journey began with a class at my local gym. I was hoping to become more flexible and find a little calm during a time of significant change in my life. I had recently left a difficult marriage and had begun dating the man who is now my husband. Movement had always been part of my life. I had taught aerobics and indoor cycling and worked as a personal trainer, but I was also curious about yoga’s spiritual side. Before long, I realized I wanted to explore the practice more deeply at a dedicated yoga studio. I was quickly hooked. I loved the connection I felt with my teacher and the community of fellow yogis. When one of the teachers opened her own studio, I happily followed her. A few years later, I took the next step and enrolled in her RYT 200 teacher training.
I began my RYT 200 training in January 2020, and by the end of March, COVID had changed everything. We completed most of the remaining program online, but the experience only deepened my love for yoga. Teaching has become one of my favorite things. I especially enjoy connecting with students and helping them build strength and confidence in their practice through the thoughtful use of props. Props are also an important part of my own practice, helping me find more openness, comfort, and ease in each pose. I have loved continuing my journey through RYT 300 training and learning more about this ancient practice; not only what it teaches us on the mat, but also how it can guide the way we live our lives.
